Holding Your Audience’s Attention

One of the many aspects of speaking that I enjoy is being able to engage the audience and keep their attention for an hour at a time. It is such a delight to say something that makes people laugh or give them some thought provoking concepts that might have them begin to make positive changes in their lives.

When I feel the most accomplished from speaking is when I see the light dawning on their faces and they come up afterwards and tell me that I gave them permission to live their life on better terms.

That’s astonishing! It is one of the most precious moments in speaking I have ever experienced.

I practice reaching out to the audience and finding different methods to involve the ones who are the least likely to get involved. It’s as though they challenge me to figure out how to break down their barriers.

It makes it more fun and each presentation becomes an original because I’m playing off the audience’s personalities.
